Barbara Bares it ALL

Well.. I thought that Post title would get your attention. LOL

Truth is.. all I am going to bare is my regrets for not taking advantage of a gift that was given to me with love and some of my tubby fat.
I may have mentioned this in an earlier post, (and I am not proud about this) but I have not taken advantage of something that I literally have under my roof.

One year for my Bday, my DH asked me what I wanted.. and I told him I would like to have my own workout room.   At the time I was schleping to the gym everyday and working out with a personal trainer.. and yes this mama had one tight bod.. and then LIFE happened (I have shared this with you in my earlier posts as well). Otherwise you can read about it here.

WELL let's fast forward to this week.. I was perusing posts and came across the one from dear sweet DRAZ and her unbelievable post "Come Run with Me" .  That post did something for me.. it lifted a heavy burden off of my mind.  And it repositioned my thinking.  I was truly letting STUFF get in the way of things I knew I should be doing.  If you notice my little LIFE RULES above, this is something that I have always struggled with.. Living in the Moment, and Getting Rid of Stuff (and when I say stuff, I don't necessarily mean physical objects).

So... continuing with Draz's post on Thursday.. it so motivated me to start to let go some of my mental stuff.. "because it really doesn't matter" and to invest in myself..  As it turns out, I was working from home on Thursday and Friday.. so I had the opportunity to let go of some stuff that was preventing me from working out and decided I was and could do this....
And so with that I changed into my workout clothes and headed downs stairs.. we have a walkout.. so as you enter the room, I get to see this wonderful view of our patio. So I can't complain about the view..

All I have to do is flip on the switch and voila I have great light a cooling fan and TV (that DH is wonderful)..
To keep my mind engaged, and not to wonder and stare at the clock on the equipment, I pulled out my DVD on the TV series "House"; each episode is 45 minutes. That show is so riveting and keeps my attention on the plot and not the clock!

I usually do 10-15 minute on the Elliptical where I can really feel my butt muscles warm up..
And then I jump on the Treadmill and do 45 minutes...followed by some sit ups
By the time I am finished with this routine.. I am sweating.. I mean a good soaking sweat.. So the picture you are about to see is life in action.. well here I am... kinda sweaty, very humble..not pretty but proud to be a work in progress.. and I am loving every minute of it..
I am 4 days into my committment (as is Dinnerland) and we are both going to kick butt).  So my goal is that this will all make a difference..
So be well my friends.. I have shared my soul and my midrif.. but I owe a big thanks to Draz.. for getting me on the road to that has allowed me to let stuff go..
"because, after all, it really doesn't matter"!

  11. Oh Barbara - I am so honored that you wrote about my post. Gosh - isn't it the weirdest thing that those little words work? I just don't get it but when I use them - I feel lighter too. It's like the hills when I simply say "Hello Hill, come run with me." It's such a different feeling. And "but it doesn't matter" totally works with life stuff - not just workouts - like you've already figured out. I tell you if I never run a marathon - that marathon book will still have been worth the read. I'm so happy for you!

What are we doing about the 5K in Chicago???? Wanna walk with me? (and likely 2,000 other people.) I am definitely NOT running.
