TODAY I WANT TO BE A BIRD and FLY FAR FAR AWAY...

OK.. please do not read this email if you are only interested in band news.. because it is not about that.. it is about the ECONOMY...

I want to scream ...
Work is driving me nuts..
So much tension and arguing and financial pressures.

I just want to escape!!!

The economy has got to pick up people!!
WTF..
And I blame it all on Walmart and those damn Vlasic Pickles.
If you think I am kidding read this classic article that has been circulated around more B-School classrooms than there are Walmarts
The Walmart You Don't Know
The giant retailer's low prices often come with a high cost. Wal-Mart's relentless pressure can crush the companies it does business with and force them to send jobs overseas. Are we shopping our way straight to the unemployment line?

I don't even work in retail.. but as the economy slows so does every other business.
If I read about one more round of layoffs or companies that are downsizing or people who just lost their job, house to foreclosure or entire retirement fund I am going to scream.

Do we not have someone in the US smart enough to figure this out.. for godsake we bailed the damn banks out.. what about the little guy out there.

It is just not fair..

  1. I totally agree. And I love the article (long read but worth it)! A friend of my grandmother's has been proclaiming about shopping at Wal-Mart "I can't afford to be cheap" for about 20 years now. I realized what she was talking about and have not shopped in a Wal-Mart since 2004. I steadfastly refuse to shop at Wal-Mart. A lot of people in my area feel the same and do the same...but we need everyone to realize how Wal-Mart is holding them back. This article really expounds on some of the issues I knew of and brings to light a few more.

And yes, this economy is frustrating, to say the least!

  2. My daughter (6) constantly asks me, "Mommy -- why can't we find anything made in America to buy?!?!?"... And the few times we do, she is SO excited!!! UGH! Good article! thanks for sharing...
