Latisse and other products

In between the chaos of my day, I have still managed to get in some follow up appts to my recent PS venture.

All is going well from my 01 July 2011 surgery.. I have no complaints.. the doctor did a really good job!! and I would do it again in a heart beat.

During that 01July surgery, I also had my first of three Sculptra fill treatments.
My second treatment was last Tuesday, so it has been a little over a week.
Sculptra is a collagen stimulating product.
I did not notice so much a change with the first treatment as I have with the second.
It takes a couple of months to fully see the impact of the product (as your body is in the process of creating its own collagen to plump up the places where it was injected).. I had this primarily in my cheek area.

I also had a few jabs of botox at the bridge of my nose.  I did not want to have my face frozen so that I did not have expression in my eye brows when I spoke, so this was more or less a mini treatment so that the 11 mark in between your eyes was not prominent. (this is what you deal with ladies as you get older)

And the last product I am dabbling with is Latisse.. this is the product that was intended to treat glaucoma but ended up growing long thick dark eyelashes on the patients enrolled in the clinical trials.

So having sparse lashes (unlike my daughters who inherited my husbands thick luscious lashes) I decided to give it a whirl.
Its only been a week, but damn, my lashes are starting to grow.
I noticed this morning as I was applying mascara that the wand was extending much farther up the lash.

The one side effect that was noted was possible reddening of the eye (which I do have in one eye but I am not sure if that is due to product or the fact that my contacts seem to be drying out quicker).. I will monitor this to see what the true impact will be on use.

So that's about it from beauty land... I am a sucker for beauty products, actually probably more like a product junkie.. I love love love to try new products..

  2. do you know that Allergan, the makers of the Lapband are also the same company that manufactures Latisse? I think they should give us free samples! I am very sad I wont get to see you in person and see all of your tweaks and your new boobies!

  6. LOVE Latisse. Slightly terrified it will turn my eyes brown, but I live on the knife's edge. (HA.)

  7. Interesting! I've got pretty average lashes, but the Latisse doesn't seem up my alley much.

Now some sort of collegen/filler for my naso-labial folds? I am SO looking forward to that someday when I'm done with my weightloss and more liquid in the funds department. *laugh*

  8. My eye doctor will not prescribe it because she doesn't like the side effects and doesn't think it's been tested enough. I didn't have the courage to go against her and either demand it or get it elsewhere because I thought the universe was sending me a sign.
I wish you all the luck in the world with it and will be SOOO jealous of your gorgeous giraffe lashes.

  9. I heart Botox! I'm doing Latisse as well. One month so far - definitely some improvement, but I'm still waiting for the long dark lashes! No redness for me. And my derm said she has never seen the eye color change thing, and in clinical tests it only happened to patients who used the stuff directly in the eyes for glaucoma.

  10. How about some more pictures... please???
I'm so happy for you that you are taking care of yourself. Everyone deserves self-care and self-love.
Cheers to you-- getting 'older' really is getting better, I think...and you know I don't mean you are 'old'! I just mean that as we get older, we really do get our priorities more in line and can have more fun and are more secure in all ways.

  11. It’s good to hear that you had a nice experience with Latisse. It can be a safer treatment than having some false eyelashes placed on your eyes. Anyway, I hope you posted some before and after photos, so that we could see and compare the differences after the sessions. All the best!
