Did you Ever Break your baby Toe?

No I am not getting desperate for things to blog about.. this is a serious question.

I broke my baby toe on my left foot 2 weeks ago.

I don't want to repeat the words that came out of my mouth as my foot hit dead on to a wrought iron bench, but the impact was enough that it also split the nail on my big toe.

Being vain, I took my broken nail to the nail salon to see if they could glue it on.  Bless that poor girl, she must have used gorilla glue to try to get it back together, but I no sooner walked out of the store and it popped off.. (oh well).

Back to my baby toe..the little sucker blew up to the size of a kiwi.. and got hot as hell.. I iced it, bandaged it and even sang "this little piggy went to the market" to it... but still two weeks later it hurts like a mo fo..

What gives and how long is this going to take to heal?

It has put a complete strong hold on my shoe selection... I mean flip flops and thong shoes cause that little monster toe hangs off the edge of the sole like a cluster of grapes...

I am fearful it will never shrink back down and I will be subject to old lady orthopedic shoes for the rest of my life.. you know the ones.. black, overly rounded toe with laces and little vent holes..

BY THE WAY.. there is an upside to my broken toe.. it is causing distraction to me thinking about the other thing that is going to happen tomorrow.......

Next blog subject.. does anyone eat chili cold?

Be well

  1. I don't eat chili cold. As for the toe, did you tape it to the other toe? I've heard that's what you're supposed to do. But also, my ex-sister-in-law once thought she broke her little toe. Turns out she tore a tendon that goes from the toe to the ankle and had to have surgery. I'd give it a couple more weeks and then see a doc. :)

  3. i've done that. hurts like mo-fo!!!! takes a lot longer to heal than you might expect for just pinkie toe. a good 6-8 weeks. tape it down to the adjoining toes & stay off it as much as possible.

    good luck tomorrow!

  4. I broke my baby toe last year. Hurts!!! It took a few weeks before I could wear anything other than flip flops, then it was sneakers for a few more weeks. I wouldn't go anywhere near the nail salon, I didn't trust them to be gentle enough with it!
