I love my veges, especially asparagus which many aren't able to tolerate. Mostly cooked veges as raw are harder on the band (I am sliming some carrot as we speak! TMI). I did buy the benefibre but didn't need it. I find if I am too bunged up (rarely) I eat yogourt (regular kind) or oatbran cooked cereal. I didn't have a problem before the band and so far have had little problem after. And I drink lots of water (8 glasses a day). I think I am unique though in this. Guess you can't say I'm full of sh!t though.
Hi Barb-I just read your last post about the knees and hips. Have you thought about getting orthotics. If your feet aren't correctly aligned, the knees and hips can be thrown out of whack. My knees don't hurt as much once I wear my orthotics regularly. Age-just a figment of our imagination.
1/2 cup of Fiber One cereal with 1/2 cup Almond Breeze Vanilla milk by Blue Diamond. Only 105 calories. Also, if you check out www.hungry-girl.com or any of her cookbooks she uses crushed Fiber One for faux frying.
I am so with Sandy on this topic, Not a problem and I drink tons of water and veggies.
This topic came up in our support group meeting the other night and one man shared that he gets "Naked". It is a juice that can be high in calories and sugars, but is supposed to help with fiber. We were all too busy chuckling over "getting Naked."http://www.nakedjuice.com/#Homepage
I have always had constipation issues, so I make sure I drink enough water and always take a big scoop of benefiber in my protein drinks. A cup of coffee usually gets the works going too. Miralax is my last resort.
I'm so glad you posted this... I am loving all the comments and ideas. I force myself to drink more water and less... Iced tea(I absolutely love 4c totally light... sugar-free with splenda and 0 calories) but there's caffenated... unfortuately and the caffeine causes you to need more water... *Maria* BandGeek blogger from "This one time at Band Camp..."
Hi Toots...I can't say I've given it any thought. I just get whatever I get in the normal foods I'm eating...frankly my diet used to include much more veggies than it currently does, but fortunately I haven't had any problems in that area. I do make sure to drink all of my water.
If you want things to move down south, start eating a bunch of fruit.. that really does it for me! Although I haven't had a down south issue as of yet.Fiber is really great for you and eating it is the best way to get it! I eat lots of fiber rich foods so don't use supplements.
Beans, beans, beans. I have black bean soup almost every day, some decent fiber there, and I have beans as often as possible in everything else. I also do one capful of Miralax in my iced tea every day (surgeon said that was OK). That is mostly to relieve constipation from my Wellbutrin, though. Stool softeners usually work fairly well too.
Never had a problem before...actually, if I ate Raisin Bran I would be on the pot all day. Since banding things back up; water makes the biggest difference and I add Benefber to my oatmeal daily.
Reading the comments for good suggestions. I'm good with water, and sometimes eat activia... but I'm not sure I pay too much attention to fiber content. Maybe I should...
