Yep, that's what the doc said to me this morning when I went in for my visit and fill.
I lost a whopping 2 lbs over the past 4 weeks.
I am now getting the feeling that this doc does not have any sense of urgency if big losses are not seen.
He reminded me that I didn't put the weight on over night and I sure am not going to lose it over night.
Alright I know what he was trying to tell me..
And he wasn't refusing to give me a fill, he just thinks he would like for me to go another month and see how it goes for me.
So, we agreed ... no fill this visit.
I acknowledged to him that I do feel restriction but I do think there are a few things that I am doing that may play into my slower weight loss.
1. Not enough exercise
His response: let's connect you with an exercise physiologist (who can work with my knee and back issues)
2. Food volume.
His response: Always eat the protein first and then the rest of the stuff on your plate. He had no concerns that I could eat 3/4 C of good food (not junk).
3. Spacing of meals ... I can go pretty long into the day before I eat
His Response: don't do that.. start your day with breakfast, you should be ready to eat lunch (and feel hungry) by lunch time. You need to eat 3 meals a day with 2 or 3 healthy snacks.
So I am going to give this approach a whirl..
The doc's scale did not show Onderland, but it was just a pound away.
I am sure I will be there by next month.. and you know what.. that's ok with me, because I am doing just fine!
Be Well..
You are doing JUST FINE - great in fact. Hang in there! You can do this!
ReplyDeleteVery encouraging-- listen to the doc-- it sounds like his head is screwed on right. I am losing at the rate you describe-- about 2 pounds a MONTH.
ReplyDeleteFrustratingly slow-- but it is weight loss!
Yes you are doing just fine. I find I have to eat something around 8 or 9 even if it is a glass of milk or other liquidy food. Otherwise I seem to want to snack into the night. I was able to eat eats and ham until last Monday and then stuck. I'll try it again on Sat. morning for breaky. For some reason the band has gotten tighter over this week-2 weeks after my fill. You'll get there doll because I believe.
ReplyDeleteI know you'll be in Onederland in no time.
ReplyDeleteYou're doing great, hope that the exercise physiologist helps!
ReplyDeleteHang in there cupcake...seems like it was a productive visit.
ReplyDeleteIf I've said it once I've said it a hundred times...this is not a race. We'll have these contraptions for the rest of our lives so whatever plan is sustainable to you, go with it...who cares how long it takes to get there, as long as we keep moving forward.
Your doc sounds very sensible...so many of them seem to say don't bother eating if you're not hungry, miss meals that's fine...eating less than 1000 calories a day...great. I don't believe that's healthy advice. We all want it off over night but it rarely happens that way. I've been toying with the idea of another fill, but self examination tells me the reason I'm not losing the weight at the moment is that I'm not following the rules properly. I'm eating out of boredom rather than hunger and I'm not usually eating good band food just now. That may not be the same for you...if you think it through and you are following all the rules and you don't feel like your restriction is good enough then I'd say be firm that you want a fill next month. xx
ReplyDeleteIt's ok not to get that fill...it will be there next month...I overdid it and had a small unfill today - I feel so much better. Being too tight makes you reach for crappy foods and not drink enough water/liquids. I was getting stuck on water and yogurt! Not eating any protein. Feel so much better now and wish I had gone slower - the over tightness was causing bad terrible no good heartburn as well!
